President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama is dancing her way through 10 balls after an official opening day of pomp and circumstance that saw his first presidential speech and the excitement of his first dress.
The Obamas will serenade by Beyoncé during their first dance in the neighborhood Ball Tuesday night.
Beyoncé sang Etta James' "At Last", its role in the film "Cadillac Records" as the couple laughed and took his first lap around the dance floor.
Before the dance, Obama addressed the crowd, which erupted in applause when he entered the room.
"First, how good is the future of my wife?" Obama joked.
All eyes were on course, Michelle Obama, who has kept his choice of a designer and style of dress in secret until they enter the dance floor.
The first lady was wearing a long white dress designed by up-and-coming designer Jason Wu, 26. The dress made especially for the first lady is made of ivory silk chiffon, organza decorated with Swarovski crystal and Rhinestones and silver thread embroidery, according to one of the advertisers Wu.
"It's exciting. ... For a young designer, I could not ask for anything more than this," said Wu, whose design combines the style of dress and lifestyle of modern haute couture, according to its Web site.
He designed and delivered to the dress Michelle Obama auxiliary request in December, according to fashion experts Mary Alice Stephenson, editor of Harper's Bazaar.
Wu - who has been in business for three years, according to director Joe Berean InStyle.com fashion - said that the intention that the gown be all that she and President Obama is coming.
"This is hope. This is the novelty," he said. "It's a little dream, and we are making history, and I wanted to reflect that reality."
The District of balls, a first of its kind and one of the balls open to the public, was the first of 10 official balls that were scheduled to attend Obamas.
For the new president, the first is particularly important.
"I cut their teeth and doing the work in the neighborhood, this campaign was organized by neighborhood district," he said.
For that reason "this ball is the best captures the spirit of this campaign," said Obama.
The Obamas then moved to his second ball - the ball's home state, Illinois and Hawaii - in the Convention Center.
After greeting the crowd, saying "Aloha", the president thanked many in the crowd said they were old friends who had been part of life for the couple for a while.
"This is a special ball, as it represents our roots," he said.
The couple laughed and embraced as dancing. President Obama let loose even after his long day, revolving around his wife in a circle - a step the crowd cheered.
Then the Obamas made their way to the Commander in Chief Ball, which was attended by many members of the armed forces, including veterans wounded.
"It is wonderful to be surrounded by some of the best and bravest Americans," Obama said. "His courage, his grace and his patriotism to inspire us all."
Obama told the crowd that "there is no greater honor or responsibility to serve as commander in chief."
Obama then introduced members of the armed forces from Illinois stationed in Kabul, Afghanistan. After thanking them, Obama took time to joke lighter, the vote of the members of the armed forces were or whether Chicago Cubs Chicago White Sox baseball fans.
"Terrible!" Obama joked, known to be a huge White Sox fan, as most said they were Cubs fans.
Obama then introduced his wife, who took a moment out of the racks.
"I could have been defended," he quipped, before she left her next dance.
Then the Obamas turned their attention to youth Inaugural Ball, where people between the ages of 18 and 35 met.
"When you look at the history of this campaign, declared him as an unlikely journey - when nobody gave us a chance - was carried forward, was inspired by, was driven by one, was activated by youth across America," Obama said.
The president thanked the young people who came out to vote in large numbers dramatically, especially in comparison with previous elections.
He said that a new generation inspired a generation older, and that's how change happens in America. "
Then he moved to the Obamas the ball home state of Delaware and Pennsylvania, in honor of Vice President Joe Biden.
"We are very grateful to you, not only because it gives confidence, but for a guy named Joe Biden," said Obama. Biden was born in Pennsylvania and then moved to Delaware, which represents in the U.S. Senate.
The Obamas then visited the other parties ahead of schedule and in quick succession, spending about five minutes each in the Atlantic Central, Western, Midwest, South and East regional balls.
In the western part of balls, singer Marc Anthony helped to entertain some 11,500 guests, including film director Ron Howard and "Curb Your enthusiasm" actress Cheryl Hines. When they reached the Obama, someone yelled "I love you" to the president.
"I love you back," Obama replied. "Michelle loves you, too."
Before the dancing in the Midwest Ball, the Chairman introduced the first lady, that she was "like dancing with that brung me, and that makes everything I do ... except in high heels high. "
The first pair of the last dance of the night - on the East Ball - occurred shortly after 12:35 am on Wednesday.
Melanie Roussell, a spokeswoman for the commission, said that according to tradition, Obama and Biden and his wife, Jill, will make presentations at each of the official balls.
There were more than chips and salsa for the new president and his fellow party. "We'll have a little more than the price of light," said Roussell, contained items such as Penne Italian menu and chilled chicken roulades with tomatoes, artichokes and pine nuts.
The ball also had a lot of music to suit almost every taste. In addition to Beyoncé, Barrio inaugural ball at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center includes artists Jay-Z, Faith Hill, Shakira and Alicia Keys.
Those not lucky enough to get a ticket or an invitation, you can see on television.
"We are trying to make this opening, the most accessible of the story," said Roussell. "We are encouraging people to plan the parties in their own neighborhoods, and can tune in and celebrate together with the president."
Congratulation for you Obama.
