Conrad is known for featured in MTV reality series “Laguna Beach” and its spin-off show, the hills, which follows their personal and professional life, and pursued a career in the fashion industry. Conrad earns an estimated 1.5 million dollars annually for his activities (television appearances, fashion line, and product endorsements).The Hills star reveals in her MySpace blog that her new book, Candy - who is "not inspired" by his own experience - the story of 19 year old girl named Jane Roberts "who moves to Los Angeles and unexpectedly becomes the star of a reality television show.” In the book Jane's best friend is called Scarlett.
The novel, the first of a series of three books published for young adults by HarperCollins, will be released June 16.
"Some of the characters may symbolize people in my life," writes Conrad, who has gone through a multitude of drama on the MTV series, "but is in no way calling anyone out."
Add the star, "I've always loved books that I could lose in that transport to another place, but had characters who could relate to. Therefore, I am very excited to have this opportunity to write books like that for other readers.
